Deep down...

I'm deep into the editing phase. I've been through the manuscript once and am now back at the start for a very slow review of each sentence. I've taken on board the words of the wonderful David Mark - if the sentence doesn't drive the story forward or develop one of the characters - then get rid of it. If the dialogue doesn't trip off the tongue (and I'm reading out loud every word), then fix it or bin it.

The process has also brought to light a couple of problems with the story arc - and I'm nervous that I've binned some text that proves important. It is, however, enjoyable to check that every piece does what I want it to and that the flow of the story goes in the right direction.

So lots of notes and lots of checking...
