Time...

There simply isn't enough time...

I try to write, I really do. I find that I just don't have the time needed to do it properly. When I wrote my first book, I was "consulting" and so had huge amounts of time available. I sorted plotting points on the beach and on long walks and then could spend whole mornings and evenings writing, and not worry that 24 hours had produced 10 words.

Now, however, I've tried to cram writing into a very full working day. I'm usually up at about 5am to get to work and I tried getting up a bit earlier and leaving a bit later - but by the time I'd read my way into the book, I'd run out of time. I get home between 7:30pm and 8:00pm and then want to spend time with young what's-her-name that I'm married to - and then usually fall asleep at 10pm.

Many people work a great deal harder than that - I know I have a good life. It's not a life that writing fits into, sadly. I'll see how I get on over the summer. New broadband in France means I can now work from there, so I'll see how that goes.

Fingers crossed.
